Create Your Own using GIMP

Let's get started:

  1. Create a new canvas (Ctrl+N) with the following settings:





  2. Width: 480 pixels
    Height: 234 pixels
    X resolution: 72 pixels
    Y resolution: 72 pixels
    Color space: RGB Color
    Fill with: anything you want

  3. Be creative.

  4. Once your custom graphic is finished, select Save As (Ctrl+Shft+S), give it the appropriate file name, change the format to Windows BMP image (bmp), and select Save:

  5. File Naming Conventions:
    • Version 6.11C = Opening1.bmp
    • Versions 6.55 and higher = OpeningBase.bmp

    The filename of your background MUST be given the appropriate filename that corresponds to you DVD version number, otherwise your background will not work.





  6. Another screen will appear. Select the 16 bits R5 G6 B5 radio button and select Save:




  7. That's it, you're all done! Keep in mind that the graphic you just created will only be viewable in MS Paint, Internet Explorer, Adobe Photoshop, and Gimp...just to name a few. This has to do with the color palette required for the Navigation System.
